Like most airports arriving at Edinburgh can be a stressful time if you are note sure what awaits you when you arrive.
Worrying about what to do and where to go when you disembark the aircraft can be very stressful arriving at any airport including Edinburgh. You need to get to your hotel or make your way to the rail station and you may be short of time or worried about being ripped off by a taxi driver. When you first get off the plane you simply follow the directions to passport control, luggage reclaim and through customs. After that you are on your own.
Manchester Airport and London Airports both have more than one terminal building and it can get confusing working out which one you should be at and how to get between them. Edinburgh airport has only one terminal building so at least you do not have to worry about that
If you are lucky enough to being collected by a friend then try to pre-arrange a suitable meeting point prior to your arrival. The airport has designated meeting points in the terminal building however it is probably advisable to get whoever is collecting you to suggest the best place to meet
With no rail connection to Edinburgh airport you could use Edinburgh shuttle bus service, which runs a regular service to and from the city centre and the main hotels. There is also a bus service (service Airlink 100) to the city centre every 10 to 15 minutes and takes around 20 to 25 minutes depending on the traffic. This service is cheaper but will not take you to your hotel unlike the shuttle bus.
There is the usual airport taxi service and like all airport taxi services they are not the most economical however they do provide the most convenient way to travel direct to any accommodation you may have booked or for other destinations when time is a major factor.
You can hire a car from one of the car rental desks in the airport, however it would be a cheaper option to book online prior to your arrival and get the car you want ready for collection. This will save you money and time and make sure you get the car you want and also to better plan your travel budget.
Travelling to and from the airport has been found to be one of the most stressful times for people so reduce your anxiety and do some simple planning ahead.
